Briohn designed and constructed this 40,000 SF facility addition for National Technologies, a custom CNC and screw machining company founded in 1959. National Technologies provides engineering, machining, milling and turning for the aerospace & defense industry, agricultural machinery, automotive and transport, communications, construction, mining and heavy equipment, consumer products, energy and utilities, engine manufacturers, fluid control equipment, pump, seal and valve, fuel systems, hydraulics, industrial machinery and equipment, medical, power generation and recreational equipment industries.
This construction project included special features such as high-efficiency lighting, skylights, an overhead crane and air conditioning throughout the building for better temperature control. Use of the property was optimized and truck access improved by working through a wetland delineation. The exterior walls of the addition were converted to precast walls manufactured to mirror the split face block finish of the existing building and to increase the building’s thermal performance. Converting to precast allowed Briohn to construct the building through winter, eliminating added winter construction costs and improving the schedule by two months.
